Earwigs are typically 10 to 15 mm in length. Although originally found in Europe, they were first introduced to Rhode Island around 1912 and have since spread across North America. Earwigs generally hide in dark places during the day and emerge to feed after sunset. They are omnivores, often eating other insects, but the Common Earwig may also feed on flowers. While they have wings, they rarely fly.
